Q How many shots are in a bottle?
A A shot is 1.5 ounces. A 750 mL bottle will hold approximately 16 shots, and a 1.5 L bottle will hold approximately 32 shots.
Q What is Proof?
A Proof is a term that is equal to double the alcohol content of a liquor. A bottle with 40% alcohol has a proof of 80.
Q. Is there a difference between gold and silver tequila?
A. Silver tequila is bottled directly right after distillation, or as an aged tequila with a maximum of a couple of months of age, giving its pure clear color. Gold tequila has an aging process in varying types of wooden barrels resulting in its golden hue.
Q What is Brandy?
A Brandy is a spirit distilled from fruits; grapes are the standard fruit for Brandy, but you can find Brandy in many fruit varieties. Brandy can be enjoyed straight and at room temperature, “on the rocks” for sipping, or blended with tonic water.
Q What is Cognac?
A Cognac is a specific type of Brandy that is aged in barrels for at least two and a half years before distribution.
Q What is Gin?
A. Gin is a liquor flavored with juniper berries. Gin comes in two basic categories. A distilled gin is made by redistilling a neutral spirit (such as grain alcohols) with juniper berries, a compound gin is made by simply flavoring a neutral spirit with essences and/or natural flavoring and is not as highly regarded. Gin is most often enjoyed in a martini or mixed with tonic water for the ever popular Gin & Tonic.
Q What is the difference between the types of Rum (Light, Dark, Gold, Spiced)?
A. Light Rum is aged in steel for as much as a year and filtered to ensure that it is clear, and is the most common rum used in cocktails.
Gold Rums are aged in oak casks which and often have caramel added to create a dark smooth liquor. Gold Rums are smooth sippers and are also used in darker cocktails.
Dark Rums are aged in charred oak casks giving them a richer flavor and making them the preferred rum for sipping.
Flavored and Spiced Rums, are created by adding spices and other flavors during the distillation process.
Q What is Vodka?
A. Vodka is an alcohol distilled from grains, potatoes or some fruits. The quality of Vodka is determined by the amount of times it is distilled, and the purity of water used to reduce the proof. It is best to chill vodka before drinking it straight. Flavored vodkas aren’t as good straight, but they mix well with juices and sodas.
